IJM’s RM3 Billion Value Plan Gains Momentum as NPE2 Advances

Strategic Plan Moves Forward
IJM Corporation Berhad’s RM3 billion shareholder value creation plan is gaining momentum, supported by progress in its infrastructure projects, toll road monetisation strategy, and plans to unlock value from key business segments. The initiative is expected to deliver stronger returns for shareholders over the next three years.
NPE2 Strengthens Infrastructure Portfolio
The New Pantai Expressway Extension (NPE2) project remains a key catalyst for IJM’s infrastructure business. The RM1.7 billion highway extension is progressing on schedule, with early construction works underway and financing supported through a sustainability-linked sukuk programme.
The 15.9km elevated highway is expected to improve connectivity between existing expressways, supporting future traffic growth and strengthening the long-term value of IJM’s toll assets.
Unlocking Value Through Asset Monetisation
A major component of IJM’s strategy involves monetising its toll road concessions, including the New Pantai Expressway (NPE), BESRAYA and LEKAS. The move is expected to contribute significantly towards the group’s RM3 billion shareholder distribution target.
IJM is also progressing with plans involving the potential listing of its construction arm and a gradual exit from its India operations as part of its broader portfolio optimisation strategy.
Why It Matters
The development highlights how infrastructure assets can play a key role in creating long-term value for property and construction groups. Improved connectivity from major highway projects can also influence surrounding development potential and regional growth.
For property investors, infrastructure expansion remains an important factor when evaluating future growth areas. Better accessibility, improved transport links and stronger economic connections can enhance the attractiveness of surrounding residential and commercial developments over time.
