PropertyGuru Malaysia is open to sharing anonymised data on homebuyer and renter behaviour with the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT), potentially helping the government better understand housing demand.

Supporting Data-Driven Housing

The platform’s data could provide early indicators of what consumers are searching for, including preferred property types, locations and price ranges, before these intentions translate into actual transactions. KPKT plans to introduce a big-data analytics system from 2027 under the National Housing Policy 2026–2035.

Addressing Housing Mismatch

PropertyGuru said its data could complement existing transaction and stock information by highlighting current buyer and renter demand. Its research found 56% of respondents planned to buy a property within two years, while more than 60% of potential buyers were looking for homes below RM500,000.
